Max Verstappen has made it three top spots in as many practice sessions for the Mexican Grand Prix, while Australian teammate Daniel Ricciardo rounded out the top four.
Verstappen could become the youngest Formula One driver and first Dutchman to claim pole position on Saturday.
Like in Friday’s two sessions, the Red Bull driver was also fastest on a drying track at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, clocking one minute 16.284 seconds for the 4.304km.
Verstappen has four career race wins but has so far never won a qualifying session.
Championship leader Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes second on 1:16.538, his title rival Sebastian Vettel was close behind in third on 1:16.566 and Ricciardo was behind him on 1:17.028.
Hamilton holds a 70-point lead over Vettel into the last three season races and will clinch a fifth career world title Sunday if Vettel doesn’t win or by finishing not worse than seventh in case the German wins.
