Sri Lanka crush NZ by 10 wickets

Sri Lanka beat New Zealand by 10 wickets in the opening Test in Galle on Monday to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

The hosts effortlessly chased down a 93-run target midway through the third day, with debutant Dimuth Karunaratne remaining unbeaten with 60 and Tharanga Paranavitana 31 not out.

New Zealand, trailing by 26 runs on the first innings, were bowled out for 118 in their second innings after lunch.

Middle-order batsman Daniel Flynn top-scored for New Zealand with 20, while Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Rangana Herath finished with 6-43.

The second and final Test starts in Colombo on Sunday.
