South Sydney co-owner Peter Holmes A Court has been installed on the third line of betting at $9.00 by online bookmaker sportsbet to be the person who buys Russell Crowe’s share of the Rabbitohs.
The short priced favourite however is the South Sydney Football Club and its members, priced at $1.40, with South Juniors next at $7.00.
“Rusty has shown he brought into the club out of sheer passion so that could mean he isn’t concerned about getting millions and millions for his 37.5 percent stake which puts the members and club in the box seat to possibly buy his share, especially given they made a six-figure profit this year and will make a seven-figure profit next year,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
“In saying that, Holmes A Court might want to stick around now the club is flying so he can’t be ruled out.”
Other candidates in sportsbet.com.au’s market include club chairman Nick Pappas ($10), Perth Glory owner Tony Sage ($11), ad-man John Singelton ($13), the NRL ($26), George Piggins ($26) and Nathan Tinkler ($34).
Foreign ownership looks unlikely, with Bunnies’ fan Oprah Winfrey priced at $501, with the Obeid Family ($67), Benji Madden ($51), Greg Inglis ($81) and Ray Martin ($101) also outsiders.
