Briton Lewis Hamilton has won the 1,000th Formula One race, the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, for Mercedes.

Hamilton finished a safe 6.552 seconds ahead of Mercedes stablemate Valtteri Bottas on Sunday, while Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel finished third. Hamilton also snatches the championship lead from his Mercedes teammate.

Australian Daniel Ricciardo finished seventh for Renault, earning his first points of the Formula One season.
