Hamilton takes 98th career pole in Bahrain

Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton has taken his 98th career pole position in qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix, with Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas yet again alongside him on the front row.

Hamilton’s fastest lap of one minute 27.264 seconds was a track record time.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who had finished quickest in the final practice earlier on Saturday, qualified in third place while Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo finished sixth.
