Israel Folau is expected to announce he will play rugby union overseas next year rather than return to the NRL, due to problems registering his playing contract.
Folau quit his lucrative contract with AFL’s Greater Western Giants last month in the hope of returning to rugby league with Parramatta.
But it is believed those prospects have been dashed due to salary-cap restraints at the Eels, leaving Folau set to play rugby union overseas.
