Bangladesh were bowled out for 387 in their first innings on day two of the second Test against the West Indies in Khulna on Thursday with No.10 batsman Abul Hasan the last man out for a stunning 113.
Hasan and Mahmudullah (76) added 184 runs for the ninth wicket – just 11 runs short of the world record set by South Africa’s Mark Boucher and Pat Symcox against Pakistan in Johannesburg in 1998.
Fidel Edwards was the pick of the bowlers with 6-90, while captain Darren Sammy took 3-74.
The West Indies lead the two-Test series 1-0.
Hasan on Wednesday became only the second man in 135 years of Test cricket after Australian Reggie Duff to hit a debut hundred while batting at No.10.
The 20-year-old left-hander turned spinner Sunil Narine for two to reach his century and match the feat of Duff, who scored 104 against England in Melbourne in 1902 while batting at 10.
Hasan, whose previous highest first-class score was 61, played with authority. He hit 13 boundaries and three sixes off just 108 balls.
