Bangladesh in early strife against Windies

Bangladesh were 3-88 at lunch on the opening day of the second Test against the West Indies in Khulna on Wednesday.

Naeem Islam was unbeaten on 15 while Shakib Al Hasan was eight not out after Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat.

Windies’ captain Darren Sammy took two wickets, bowling Tamim Iqbal for 32 and having Shahriar Nafees caught behind for 26, while Fidel Edwards dismissed Nazimuddin for four. Edwards came in for paceman Ravi Rampaul.

The home team had brought in Nazimuddin in place of opener Junaid Siddique in the hope of boosting their batting.

The other opener Iqbal was cleared to play on Tuesday after suffering an elbow injury.

Bangladesh also included debutant 20-year-old paceman Abul Hasan in place of Shahadat Hossain.

The West Indies lead the two-Test series 1-0 after winning the first Test by 77 runs in Dhaka.

The Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna became the seventh venue in Bangladesh and the 107th in the world to host a Test match.
