India’s World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh hopes to return to cricket in three to four months after recovering from a cancerous tumour, according to media reports on Thursday.
Yuvraj, asked by reporters in Chandigarh whether he could make a comeback in a year, said: “One year is too late. I am hoping to make an early comeback, maybe by the next three to four months.”
The 30-year-old underwent chemotherapy treatment in the United States earlier this year after being diagnosed with a rare germ-cell tumour between his lungs.
On his return to India last month, Yuvraj said he wanted to force his way back into the Indian side but conceded that “it won’t be easy and will take time”.
The left-handed all-rounder played a key role in India’s World Cup triumph last year, scoring 362 runs and taking 15 wickets in nine matches to be player of the tournament.
Yuvraj has not played competitive cricket since taking part in two home Tests against the West Indies in November.
Yuvraj has scored 8051 runs in 274 one-dayers and 1775 runs in 37 Tests since his international debut in 2000.
