Windies win toss, chose to bat in Test

The West Indies will bat first after winning the toss in the first Test against Australia in Barbados.

Australia have named young paceman James Pattinson as their 12th man for the Test, going with Ryan Harris, Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus in a three-man pace line-up.

Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade will debut in the Test and was presented with his baggy green cap by former captain Ricky Ponting.

The West Indies have omitted Kieran Powell and fast bowler Ravi Rampaul from their squad of the 13 with youngster Kraigg Brathwaite to open the batting alongside Adrian Barath.

The pitch at Kensington Oval looks hard and fast with barely any sign of grass while weather conditions are clear and sunny.

The game begins at 10am (0000 Sunday AEST).
