Fast bowler Fidel Edwards has been selected by the West Indies for their upcoming two-match Twenty20 series against Australia.
The 30-year-old quick was overlooked for the ongoing one-day series against the tourists, which the West Indies lead 2-1 going in Sunday’s final game, but will feature in the T20s starting in St Lucia on Tuesday.
The squad features several players currently involved in the one-day series including big-hitting allrounder Kieron Pollard and impressive young spinner Sunil Narine.
Other inclusions aside from Edwards include allrounder Dwayne Smith as well as left-arm spin bowler Garey Mathurin who earned a man-of-the-match award on his T20 international debut against England last September.
Smith has been named after a strong domestic T20 campaign as has allrounder Nkrumah Bonner and the leading wicket-taker from the competition, left-arm quick Krishmar Santokie.
Windies squad: Darren Sammy (capt), Dwayne Bravo, Carlton Baugh, Nkrumah Bonner, Darren Bravo, Johnson Charles, Fidel Edwards, Garey Mathurin, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Krishmar Santokie, Dwayne Smith.
