Warriors doing it easy against Blues

Western Australia are in complete control of their Sheffield Shield match against NSW after dismissing a strong Blues batting line-up for 91 on day one at the WACA Ground.

At tea, the home side have rocketed to 0-48, just 43 runs short of NSW’s total after 12 overs, with Liam Davis (33no) and Wesley Robinson (15no) looking comfortable at the crease.

Skipper Marcus North may struggle to bat in this innings after being sent to have scans on a finger he injured when he grassed a tough chance in the gully.

But it was the Warriors bowling that did the damage earlier in the day, with the cleanly-shaven Nathan Rimmington taking career-best figures of 4-31, including four of the last five wickets.

He was assisted by fellow paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile (4-20), who continues to impress by claiming the wickets of Shane Watson (21) and Brad Haddin (0).

Recent Test players Usman Khawaja (15) and Phil Hughes (28) didn’t help their case for a recall as the visitors collapsed after being 1-60 before lunch.

While the pitch has offered some assistance for the bowlers, it has been the choice of shots that will give the Blues plenty to think about.
