WA batsmen on top of SA bowlers in Shield

Western Australia’s opening batsmen notched a half-century stand as the Warriors pursue innings points against South Australia in the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

After bowling SA out for 248, the Warriors were none for 53 at lunch on Friday’s second day.

Openers Liam Davis and Marcus Harris were untroubled by Redbacks bowlers in an assured partnership.

Davis struck four boundaries in his unbeaten 31 while Harris was not out 18.

WA bowlers earlier rapidly ended SA’s first innings by capturing the final three wickets for no runs.

The Redbacks resumed at 7-237 but were all out within 30 minutes of play on Friday, with paceman Michael Hogan claiming a further two wickets for figures of 5-40 from 23 overs.

Emerging spinner Ashton Agar took 2-63 and paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile finished with 2-69, including the last wicket of the innings when he bowled SA captain Johan Botha (23).

Callum Ferguson top-scored with 63 while allrounder Jake Brown made 55.
