Australia may be forced into changes for the one-day series-deciding clash against India, with batsman Adam Voges in doubt with a back injury.

Interim skipper George Bailey has taken pride in sticking with the same group through the seven-match series.

But his hand may be forced, with Voges failing to field as India chased down Australia’s target of 351 to level the series in Nagpur on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old Voges, who has scored 145 runs at 48.33 this series, has precious little time to recover before Saturday’s game seven in Bangalore.

Voges aggravated the injury while compiling an unbeaten 44 in Australia’s total of 6-350.

Bailey was optimistic when quizzed on Voges’ chances.

“Just a stiff back from batting. We’ll assess that,” he said.

“He had a bit of a crack in the warmup but just felt he was going to be more of a hindrance.

“Historically he bounces back reasonably quickly form that.

“He spent most of the innings working on it.

“Hopefully he’ll be right.”

Bailey and coach Steve Rixon have been reluctant to make changes this series – sticking with the same bowlers even after the Jaipur massacre where Australia failed to defend 359.

But when discussing India’s decision to include legspinner Amit Mishra for his first match of the series, Bailey said both teams were now considering changes.

“Both teams are looking for a difference with the bowling attack,” he said.

“It’s been so hard for bowlers, it’s just about trying to find two per cent difference that could be the difference in the game.”
