Vics set SA 445 runs to win Shield game

Opening batsman Rob Quiney struck his second century for the Sheffield Shield match as Victoria set South Australia 445 runs to win.

The Bushrangers declared their second innings at 4-231 during tea on Saturday’s third day at Adelaide Oval.

Quiney was dismissed for 119, featuring 12 fours and three sixes, in the last over before the break.

Quiney, who struck 114 in the Bushrangers’ first innings, moved to the top of the Shield run-scorers list.

The powerful left-hander is also third highest scorer in the one-day competition, and only five batsmen made more runs in the Big Bash League.

Quiney blasted his second ton against the Redbacks from just 98 deliveries, including 10 fours and three sixes.

Earlier, the Victorians bowled SA out for 224 to take a 213 run first innings lead.
