Stand-in Victorian captain Rob Quiney won the toss and opted to put Western Australia in to bat on Friday in the Sheffield Shield clash at the WACA Ground.
Quiney is skipper for the Bushrangers with regular captain and wicketkeeper Matthew Wade suspended from the game after having his appeal dismissed over pitch tampering during Victoria’s 129-run win over Tasmania last week.
The Bushrangers have also lost opening batsman Chris Rogers to the Test side, but still possess a strong line-up with David Hussey and Aaron Finch returning to the line-up, and former South Australian paceman Jake Haberfield making his Victorian debut.
The Bushrangers also have Quiney, Fawad Ahmed, Dan Christian, John Hastings, Clint McKay, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron White who have represented Australia at various levels.
The Bushrangers are also coming off a win last week, while the Warriors have been struggling and desperately need to find some form and points.
WA have only two points to show from their opening three Shield games with a disappointing loss at home to South Australia and then only avoiding outright defeats in Melbourne and Adelaide thanks to fighting final-day knocks from former Test batsman Marcus North.
The Warriors are strengthened to take on Victoria, though, with captain Adam Voges and pace duo Michael Hogan and Jason Behrendorff returning after being rested in Adelaide.
WA: Adam Voges (capt), Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Michael Hogan, Mitch Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Marcus North, John Rogers, Sam Whiteman, Ryan Duffield (12th man)
Victoria: Rob Quiney (capt) Fawad Ahmed, Daniel Christian, Aaron Finch, Jake Haberfield, Peter Handscomb, John Hastings, David Hussey, Clint McKay, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron White, Jon Holland (12th man)
