Vics extend lead to 294 runs over SA

Victoria’s batsmen increased their lead over South Australia to 294 runs at lunch on Saturday’s third day of the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

The Bushrangers were one for 81 at the break, with Rob Quiney not out 43.

His opening partner Chris Rogers fell for 32 on the last ball before lunch, caught at short cover from the part-time spin bowling of Tom Cooper.

Earlier, the Victorians opted against making SA follow-on after banking a 213 run first innings lead.

The Redbacks were bowled out for 224 within 35 minutes of Saturday’s play with opener James Smith top scoring with 76 and Tom Cooper making 42.

No other SA batsman passed 18 on a perfect batting pitch as Bushranger spinner Jon Holland claimed three wickets.
