Vics beat SA in Sheffield Shield

Victoria rose to third on the Sheffield Shield table with a crushing 186-run triumph over South Australia in Adelaide on Sunday.

Chasing 445 to win, the Redbacks were all out for 258 an hour before tea on the final day.

Victoria moved to third on the table with 18 points, two shy of second-placed Western Australia, while the Redbacks remain last with just two points for the season.

The Bushrangers’ victory at Adelaide Oval was inevitable once they broke a dangerous partnership between Redbacks Tom Cooper (93) and Callum Ferguson (79).

Their 132-run stand for the fourth wicket was spectacularly ended by a diving one-handed slips catch by Cameron White to dismiss Ferguson.

Cooper fell soon after when caught and bowled by Jon Holland, who cleaned up SA’s tail to finish with 4-74.
