Victoria banked innings points against South Australia on Saturday’s third day of the Sheffield Shield match at Adelaide Oval.
The Redbacks were bowled out for 267, some 52 runs behind Victoria’s first innings of 319 all out.
SA’s innings featured 120 from Phil Hughes but the in-form lefthander received scant support, with the next highest score 28 by paceman Joe Mennie.
Victorian quick Will Sheridan was the chief destroyer with 4-49 from 19 overs.
Test speedster James Pattinson, in his comeback from a two-month absence due to a side injury, claimed 2-36 and John Hastings took 2-44.
The Redbacks resumed on Saturday at 8-239 but Mennie’s resistance ended when bowled by Scott Boland, who also featured in the final dismissal of the innings when catching Chadd Sayers (16) from Sheridan’s bowling.
