Vic bowlers fight back against SA

Victorian spinner Jon Holland claimed six wickets to lead a stunning fightback against South Australia in Tuesday’s one-day match in Adelaide.

Chasing 124 to win, the Redbacks were 8-92 after 25 overs, with Tom Cooper not out 34 and Gary Putland yet to score.

The South Australians, seeking a win to lift them to the top of the one-day table, lost their initial six wickets in the space of 16 runs.

Redbacks openers Michael Klinger (32) and Daniel Harris put on 45 runs as the home side initially set about collecting two bonus points for reaching their target within 25 overs.

But Harris’ dismissal for 11 sparked the collapse, with Holland taking four wickets and medium-pacer Andrew McDonald two in a span of seven overs.

Holland later struck again twice in the same over as the Redbacks self-destructed.

The fourth-placed Bushrangers, who must win to have any chance of making the one-day final, were earlier bowled out for 123 in 37.2 overs with Redbacks paceman Jake Haberfield taking 4-30.
