England Ashes hope Chris Tremlett will play for the Sydney Sixers in this summer’s Twenty20 Big Bash League.
The towering quick did not feature for England in their just completed 3-0 home win over Australia, but did play in the last Ashes series in Australia in 2010-11 and is likely to form part of their squad for the return series beginning in November.
“He’s had great success here in Australia so he was an obvious choice for us,” Sixers coach Trevor Bayliss said.
“He’s 6ft 7 and has great pace, bounce and accuracy. He’ll be a great fit for the team and our younger bowlers will enjoy being around him and learning from him.”
If Tremlett is chosen for England he will be ineligible until the New Year’s Test in Sydney wraps up.
“I’m delighted to be joining the Sydney Sixers for the Big Bash competition in 2013/14,” he said.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to play for a fantastic team and I look forward to contributing, to what I hope will be, a successful Big Bash campaign.”
