Tasmanian opener Mark Cosgrove struck a century against his old state South Australia on the first day of the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.
The Tigers were 1-222 at tea, with Cosgrove unbeaten on 100 and Alex Doolan not out 82.
Test opener Ed Cowan was the batsman out, falling lbw to new Redbacks captain Johan Botha for 35.
Cosgrove, who was cut from the Redbacks squad in 2010, was dropped on 47 when Botha turfed a difficult diving catching chance at mid-on from offspinner Nathan Lyon’s bowling.
Cosgrove combined for an unbroken 156-run partnership with Doolan, who was also given a second chance – on 37, when dropped by Chadd Sayers at backward point from Lyon’s bowling.
SA’s Tom Cooper was forced from the field when he stopped a blazing Cosgrove drive only to injure the middle finger on his right hand.
