Paceman Luke Butterworth took six wickets as Tasmania banked first innings points against South Australia in the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.
After posting 3(dec)-403, Tasmania bowled the Redbacks out for 224 and enforced the follow-on before tea on a rain-affected third day.
Butterworth claimed 6-49, his best first-class figures, to help the Tigers to a hefty 179-run lead on the first innings.
The advantage would have been greater if not for resistance from SA wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Ludeman and tailender Chadd Sayers.
Ludeman compiled 85 and Sayers made 38 not out, the pair combining for a 107-run stand for the ninth wicket – the biggest partnership of the innings and the highest ninth-wicket union for SA against Tasmania.
Ludeman and Sayers each registered their highest first-class scores to frustrate Tasmania, who were also hampered by rain which caused about two hours of play to be lost on Thursday.
The Redbacks resumed the day at 7-93 and Ludeman and Nathan Lyon took the total to 111 before Butterworth struck.
The 28-year-old quick dismissed Lyon (11) when the Test offspinner was caught at mid-wicket by Alex Doolan.
Sayers joined Ludeman and they scored at a run a minute before tweaker Jason Krejza broke the partnership.
Two balls after smacking Krejza for six over mid-wicket, Ludeman attempted to sweep a fullish delivery but missed and was out lbw.
Soon after, No.11 Gary Putland (four) was also trapped lbw by Krejza to end the SA innings.
