Graeme Swann has been ruled out with a back injury as England won the toss and elected to bat in their Champions Trophy opener against Australia at Edgbaston on Saturday.
It’s the first of 26 clashes between the cricket rivals stretching between now and February next year.
Australia are without captain Michael Clarke for the match and probably the entire one-day tournament, with stand-in George Bailey sticking with the same side that was rolled for 65 in a warm-up game against India.
Adam Voges will look after spinning duties for the Australians, with no recognised tweakers including in the XI.
Powerful allrounder Mitchell Marsh was named to play his first ODI since 2011.
England also have injury setbacks of their own, with star spinner Swann and fast bowler Steven Finn ruled out for the match at Birmingham.
James Tredwell was included as England’s spinner.
Alastair Cook will captain the side in his first-ever international tournament.
England are shooting for their first ever success in a 50-over event.
Australia are the defending Champions Trophy champions and can make it a hat-trick of titles if they win the last-ever instalment of the event.
