Strauss out, England 1-48 v Pakistan

England lost out-of-form captain Andrew Strauss before lunch on Thursday after having quickly ended Pakistan’s first innings for 257 on day two of the second Test.

Strauss struggled for 42 balls in scoring 11 runs before falling to offspinner Mohammad Hafeez as England went to the break at 1-48.

Earlier, Pakistan could add only one run to its overnight score of 7-256 before Stuart Broad and James Anderson ended the innings in the space of 16 deliveries.

Broad finished with 4-47 after trapping Misbah-ul-Haq lbw off his fourth delivery which nipped back into the Pakistan captain. Misbah hit five fours and four sixes in his 84.

Anderson then trapped Saeed Ajmal lbw while Junaid Khan looped a catch to the slips to end the innings.

Pakistan lead the three-match series 1-0.
