Srinivasan the new ICC president

Suspended Indian cricket chief Narayanaswami Srinivasan has been appointed as the new chairman of the International Cricket Council.

He was confirmed in the position on the final day of the ICC annual conference in Melbourne on Thursday, describing it as an honour.

Srinivasan is among 13 people named in a damning report into corruption allegations in the Indian Premier League.

He has been suspended by the Indian Supreme Court as that country’s cricket chief.

Under constitutional changes approved earlier this year, a new ICC executive committee has been formed, chaired by Cricket Australia head Wally Edwards, with England’s Giles Clarke heading up the finance and commercial affairs committee.
