Sri Lanka to bat against India at WACA

Sri Lanka have won the toss and will bat first in their one-day clash with India at the WACA Ground.

India were flirting with the idea of resting Sachin Tendulkar for the match in order to accommodate the return of Virender Sehwag, but opted to rest Gautam Gambhir instead.

Paceman Zaheer Khan was also recalled in place of injured spinner Rahul Sharma.

India lost the opening one-dayer against Australia by 65 runs, and are keen to bounce back against Sri Lanka.

The last time the two nations played in a 50-over match was in the World Cup final last April, which India won by six wickets.

Sri Lankan cricket has gone through a turbulent time of late, with Geoff Marsh unceremoniously sacked as coach and replaced by Graham Ford, and Tillakaratne Dilshan stripped of the captaincy in favour of Mahela Jayawardene.

But vice-captain Angelo Mathews insists the drastic changes haven’t affected the player group.

India: Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni (capt), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin, Vinay Kumar, Praveen Kumar, Zaheer Khan.

Sri Lanka: Tillakaratne Dilshan, Upul Tharanga, Kumar Sangakkara, Dinesh Chandimal, Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Lasith Malinga, Dhammika Prasad, Lahiru Thirimanne
