Sri Lanka lead Pakistan by 74 runs in Test

Sri Lanka, trailing by 12 runs on the first innings, were 2-86 in their second knock at tea on Saturday’s third day of the second Test against Pakistan in Colombo.

Kumar Sangakkara was unbeaten on 17 and the retiring Mahela Jayawardene was not out one in his final Test innings.

Upul Tharanga was dismissed for 45 and fellow opener Kaushal Silva went for 17, both off the bowling of Abdul Rehman.

Sri Lanka lead by 74 runs with eight wickets in hand.

Earlier, Pakistan wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed scored 103, his maiden Test century, and Sri Lanka’s left-arm spinner Rangana Herath claimed a rare nine wickets for the innings.

Pakistan took their overnight score of 6-244 to 332 before they were all out at the stroke of lunch.

Sri Lanka, who won the first Test in Galle, had scored 320 in their first innings.

Herath finished with 9-127, surpassing his previous best of 7-89 against Bangladesh in Colombo last year.
