South Africa beat India by 141 runs

South Africa swept to a crushing 141-run win over India in their first one-day cricket international on Thursday after 20-year-old Quinton de Kock struck a century at the Wanderers.

De Kock showed composure beyond his years as he hit a career-best 135 in a South African total of 4-358.

Dale Steyn and Ryan McLaren then took three wickets apiece as India fell for 217.

Hashim Amla shared in a 152-run opening partnership with de Kock, but the fourth-wicket stand of 105 between AB de Villiers and JP Duminy was equally damaging to India as the South Africans added 100 runs in the last six overs of their innings.

MS Dhoni’s fighting 65 was as good as it got for India.
