Sydney Sixers batsman Jordan Silk has revealed his side has plans to unsettle Hobart Hurricanes power-hitter Bill Dunk in Wednesday’s crucial Big Bash League clash at the SCG.
Both teams are still in contention for the finals, with the winner on Wednesday advancing their claims and the loser in danger of missing out.
Dunk is a key member of the Hurricanes lineup, boasting an extraordinary strike rate of 161.
He blitzed hapless Sydney Thunder in the Hurricanes last outing, blasting 96 of 54 balls in their 73-run victory.
“He’s on fire at the moment, he beat the Thunder by himself the last game,” said batsman Silk, who plays alongside Dunk in Tasmania’s Sheffield Shield side.
“I know Ben pretty real well now. I’ve been down there (in Tasmania) with him now for a couple of years.
“We’ve got a few plans in place to try and unsettle him and hopefully get him out early, because he’s a massive threat for them.”
Silk, who hails from NSW, but is in his second season with the Tigers, has been able to furnish the Sixers brain trust with valuable information on some of the Hurricanes.
“I know a few secrets about them I guess in terms of how they play the game, so it’s a good bit of knowledge that I’ve been able to pass on to our boys,” Silk said.
The Sixers regain the services of their own hard-hitting opener and leading run getter, England star Michael Lumb, who missed their last game with a finger injury.
“He instills a lot of confidence in our batting group,” Silk said of Lumb.
The Sixers have a 1-2 win-loss BBL record at the SCG this season while the Hurricanes are 1-1 away from home.
