Sheds open to ex-Test players: Clarke

Former Test greats will be invited into Australia’s dressing room this summer to try to inspire younger players, captain Michael Clarke says.

Australia kick off a busy summer against No.1 Test nation South Africa in November before another three-Test series against Sri Lanka in December and January.

In a bold new plan, Clarke says ex-Test players will be invited into the sheds at grounds around the country to pass on their wisdom.

The idea is to help inspire what is expected to be a fairly youthful Australian team, including tyros James Pattinson, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc.

“I know all the guys that have played for Australia would love to come back into the rooms and be part of the team,” Clarke told AAP.

“We play in different states for the next five months so there’ll be an opportunity hopefully for a lot of past players to come back in.

“If you’ve represented Australia, you’re welcome in our dressing room any time.”
