Bangladesh, replying to Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 587, were 1-86 at stumps on the second day of the second Test in Chittagong on Wednesday.
Shamsur Rahman (45) and Imrul Kayes (36) were at the crease after Tamim Iqbal was bowled by Suranga Lakmal off the fourth ball of the innings.
Kumar Sangakkara scored a career-best 319 in Sri Lanka’s innings, which ended just before tea.
Left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan was Bangladesh’s most successful bowler with five wickets.
Sri Lanka won the first Test by an innings and 248 runs in Dhaka last week.
