Former England international Mark Ramprakash has been hired as batting coach for the national team with immediate effect.
The 45-year-old Ramprakash, who played 52 Tests in an 11-year international career, will coach across all formats starting with the one-day series against Sri Lanka this month.
He has been working with England since May, when Graham Gooch stood down as batting coach, and previously coached the second-string England Lions team.
In an England statement released on Thursday, Ramprakash said “I will draw on my 25 years of experience as a cricketer but also am open to learning all the time.
“I feel we have a very exciting group of players.”
