Rain hits England-West Indies ODI

West Indies were set a revised target of 287 in 48 overs to win the first one-day international against England here on Saturday.

Two overs were lost in a 71-minute rain break.

West Indies were 127 for five off 23 overs, needing a further 160 off 25 overs, to reach their new victory target under the Duckworth/Lewis method governing rain-affected matches.

Marlon Samuels was 20 not out and West Indies captain Darren Sammy nought not out after England’s Ian Bell had marked his return to the one-day side with 126 in a total of 6-288.

This is the first of a three-match series.
