Victoria top-order batsman Rob Quiney polled 52 per cent of players’ votes to win Cricket Australia’s Domestic Player of the Year Award on Monday night.
Quiney’s Big Bash League Melbourne Stars team-mates James Faulkner (12 per cent) and Matthew Wade (10 per cent) finished second and third respectively.
Stylish left-hander Quiney hit 1640 runs at an average of 44.32 across all three versions of the game at domestic level, scoring four hundreds and 10 half-centuries.
The 29-year-old’s big summer included twin centuries in the Sheffield Shield game against South Australia in Adelaide earlier this month.
Quiney’s top score at one-day level in the voting period was his 91 off 57 deliveries against NSW at North Sydney Oval on October 30 2011.
He also belted 97 off 60 balls for the Melbourne Stars against Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on December 20 2011.
