Qld bowler Gannon cleared of chucking

Queensland fast bowler Cameron Gannon’s career is back on track, with his three-month ban for chucking lifted on Wednesday following a successful biomechanical analysis of his reworked action.

Gannon had been reported in three separate Sheffield Shield matches for the Bulls in 2012-13, including twice in the final against Tasmania in Hobart, leading to the Cricket Australia suspension in April.

The 24-year-old worked with Queensland Cricket and the Centre of Excellence in Brisbane to modify his action, and was reassessed after his 90-day suspension expired, which he undertook on July 30.

Gannon’s action now complies with the CA tolerance level, which is an elbow extension of 15 degrees or less for every delivery.

Gannon was Queensland’s second leading Shield wicket-taker this past season, behind only captain James Hopes, with 31 scalps at 24.
