Former Test skipper Ricky Ponting says he and Michael Clarke are back on good terms after making contact with each other.
But Ponting says he’s offended by accusations from fellow former skipper Mark Taylor that he’s broken the sanctity of the Australian team change room.
Ponting has come under fire for details released in his autobiography At the Close of Play, in which revealed he held concerns about current skipper Clarke’s perceived shortcomings when he was vice-captain.
Taylor also expressed disappointment that Ponting brought up the issue of Clarke’s infamous SCG change room bust-up with Simon Katich in the book.
Clarke was reportedly furious over some contents of the book.
But Ponting said on Wednesday he and Clarke were now on good terms after making contact with each other on Tuesday.
Ponting said it was unfair of Taylor to criticise him for talking about an event that was already public knowledge.
“Everyone in Australia knows Michael Clarke and Simon Katich had an issue in the change room,” Ponting said on Wednesday at a Perth breakfast function hosted by The West Australian.
“I’ve just given my side of it.
“I was actually really offended that Mark would come out and say that I would break what happens in the sanctuary in the change room.
“That’s not me.
“I’m not out doing things like this to sell books.
“Australian cricket is dear for me. It’s been my life for 20-odd years. I’m not going to do anything to try to bring that.”
