The government of Guyana has ordered a police investigation into the finances of the Guyana Cricket Board, saying it wants to fight corruption and end bickering between rival factions.
National Security Minister Clement Rohee said he believes an investigation will uncover serious irregularities.
Both the Antigua-based West Indies Cricket Board and the Dubai-based International Cricket Council have said that Guyana faces serious consequences if the government gets involved in the administration of the sport.
