England Lions have won the toss and are batting first in Friday’s rain-delayed tour match at Northampton.
Play is due to start at 2pm local time (11pm AEST) after rain wiped out the morning session.
Australia would have been hoping to bat first in the two-day match that’s been reduced to 75 overs a side.
Rain is forecast for Saturday, raising the possibility that Australia may not get to bat at all.
Shane Watson is captaining the Australians, with Michael Clarke among several players rested.
