The second Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Colombo was heading for a draw after the hosts saved the follow-on during the fifth and final day on Wednesday.
Sri Lanka, resuming their first innings at 5-278 and needing 74 more runs to make Pakistan bat again, were all out for 391 in the post-lunch session at the Sinhalese Sports Club.
Kumar Sangakkara was dismissed for 192.
Pakistan, who led by 160 runs after the first innings, were 2-99 in their second knock at tea with just one session remaining in the match.
