Pakistan 7-53 at lunch against England

England seamers Stuart Broad and James Anderson destroyed Pakistan’s top order in the third Test in Dubai on Friday, reducing the series leaders to 7-53 at lunch on the first day.

Broad grabbed 4-21 and Anderson chipped in with 2-24 after Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and elected to bat first.

Anderson had Taufeeq Umar lbw in the first over before Broad struck three times in the space of 16 balls.

Broad succeeded on both his TV referrals after Australian umpire Simon Taufel had adjudged Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez not out.

At lunch, Asad Shafiq was unbeaten on 24 and Saeed Ajmal not out on 1 with Pakistan still 19 runs behind their lowest-ever Test score of 72.

Pakistan has an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series after winning the first two Tests by 10 wickets and 72 runs respectively.

Top-ranked England needs to win the last Test to ensure they pocket the $US175,000 ($A164,000) ICC prizemoney awarded to the No.1 team at the April 1 cut-off date every year.
