NSW to bat first against WA in Shield

New South Wales have won the toss and will bat first in the Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia at the WACA Ground with a potential final spot on the line.

Both the Blues and Warriors won outright last week as the Sheffield Shield season resumed following the lengthy Big Bash League game break.

NSW hammered Victoria by an innings and 48 runs at the SCG to now sit on 24 points on top of the Shield table with three games remaining while WA won a tight affair in Perth over Tasmania by four wickets to improve to third position on 20 points.

Depending on what happens in South Australia’s clash with Victoria, the winner out of WA and NSW at the WACA Ground could very well end the round clear on top of the Shield table with two games remaining in the campaign.

WA have made two changes from the team that beat Tasmania with a swap of left-arm spinners as Ashton Agar returns from suspension to replace Michael Beer while left-arm quick Jason Behrendorff comes in for the injured Nathan Coulter-Nile.

NSW have made the one change from the team that beat Victoria with off-spinner Manjot Singh recalled for his second Shield game to replace Steve O’Keefe.

Paceman Gurinder Sandhu couldn’t force his way into the team ahead of Doug Bollinger, Josh Hazlewood, Sean Abbott and Trent Copeland.

TEAMS: WA – Adam Voges (captain), Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Ryan Duffield, Marcus Harris, Michael Hogan, Mitch Marsh, Marcus North, Ashton Turner, Sam Whiteman, Michael Beer (12th man).

NSW – Peter Nevill (captain), Sean Abbott, Doug Bollinger, Ryan Carters, Trent Copeland, Josh Hazlewood, Scott Henry, Nic Maddinson, Kurtis Patterson, Ben Rohrer, Manjot Singh, Gurinder Sandhu (12th man).
