NSW need 277 runs to defeat South Australia on the final day of the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.
An outright victory will likely lift the Blues to top spot on the Shield ladder with one round remaining.
SA, chasing quick runs on Thursday’s final day at Adelaide Oval, were bowled out for 280 in their second innings – a lead of 276 runs.
Resuming at 5-232, the Redbacks lost their last five wickets for 48 runs in 35 minutes.
NSW spinner Steve O’Keefe took 6-70, his second five-wicket haul of the match, while paceman Doug Bollinger claimed 3-61.
Redbacks batsman Tom Cooper top-scored with 89 and Callum Ferguson (59) and opener Sam Raphael (55) both made half-centuries.
The Blues’ batsmen have 86 overs to reach their target and take top spot on the table, should Western Australia be beaten by Queensland.
