No plans to call off T20 action in Sydney

Officials expect Wednesday night’s first Twenty20 international between Australia and India at ANZ Stadium to go ahead despite persistent drizzle in Sydney in the morning.

A bumper crowd in excess of 60,000 has been tipped for the showpiece match and organisers are hoping the inclement weather will clear and won’t affect the gate takings too much with the match due to start at 7.35pm.

There are also no current plans to call-off the curtain-raiser, the women’s T20 international between Australia and New Zealand due to start at 2.05pm AEDT.

“With most seats at ANZ Stadium under cover, there is no reason fans should not take full advantage of their ticket,” said ANZ Stadium officials in a statement.

They said the showers were expected to clear in the afternoon.

“If rain persists, the game may be delayed and the Duckworth-Lewis (adjusted scoring) method will be employed,” said the statement.
