Mike Hussey’s hot form continues in IPL

Retirement from cricket’s international ranks has failed to dampen the form of Mike Hussey, who produced another match-winning display in the Indian Premier League to lift his team into Sunday’s final.

Hussey scored an unbeaten 86 off 58 deliveries to guide the Chennai Super Kings to a 48-run win over Mumbai Indians on Tuesday night.

The 37-year-old is almost certain to win the Orange Cap as the league’s top-scorer after plundering 732 runs at an average of 56.3 this season.

But fans will miss out on seeing Hussey at the Champions Trophy, after the West Australian’s retirement from international ranks earlier this year.

Australian coach Mickey Arthur was keen to lure Hussey out of retirement for the Ashes campaign in England.

But the man known as ‘Mr Cricket’ refused the offer, saying his days of competing in the Test arena were over.

Hussey is yet to decide whether to play on for WA next season.
