MELBOURNE RENEGADES (2-0) ($1.70) v SYDNEY SIXERS (1-2) ($2.15)
Peter Handscomb sent a message to the Australian selections on Thursday night with a fine knock of 70 that included nine 4’s and three 6’s. Unfortunately for the Sixers they posted a score that wasn’t anywhere near high enough to challenge the Stars who cruised to victory at the SCG in just under 15 overs.
Highest opening partnership – Melbourne Renegades ($1.85)
Once again there were too many passengers in the Sixers’ batting order with Jordan Silk the only batsman to really trouble the Stars with 41. With 7 batsmen scoring under 15 runs the Sixers have plenty of work to do if they are going to challenge the Renegades in this match.
Cameron White over 23.5 runs ($1.88)
There are few more experienced batsmen than the former Australian T20 captain and the Wolf expects that White will be patient enough to build an innings of over 23.5.
VALUE: Richardson 2+ Wickets, Hughes 25+ Runs & Renegades Win ($7.00)
The Wolf’s Happy Hour Special for this match is built around a Renegades win and another solid performance from a proven Sixers’ batsman. Kane Richardson took 3/23 against the Scorchers and 2/39 against the Strikers which included the crucial wickets of Matt Short and Jonathan Wells. The South Australian is full of aggression which will help against a nervous Sixers batting lineup. The Wolf thinks he will feed off the energy of the Melbourne crowd and cause some damage.
Daniel Hughes has been one of the few batsmen in the Sixers top order to score some runs with 62 against the Scorchers and a start of 20 against the Stars. Hughes averaged 37 last season and is already averaging 31 in BBL|08 which puts a score of 25+ well within the left handers range.
The Renegades’ bowlers orchestrated the Scorchers batting collapse in their last home game and the Wolf is expecting a similar performance. Marvel Stadium will be painted red for this match and that is going to make it hard for the Sixers to bounce back.
