McKay limps off for Vics in one-dayer v WA

Victoria’s one-day international representative Clint McKay limped off with a hamstring injury during Wednesday’s one-day cup clash with Western Australia at the MCG.

McKay’s right-hamstring tear raises doubts over his ability to be fit for the Melbourne Stars in next month’s Big Bash League and also puts the pace bowler under pressure to find form and fitness for the ODI series against Sri Lanka in January.

The latest drama follows a hamstring injury for McKay at a national training camp in Darwin in August.

McKay has played 32 ODIs, most recently against England in July.

The 29-year-old was part of Australia’s squad for the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka in September-October.

A Victorian team spokesman said McKay was unlikely to return to the field during Western Australia’s innings, after limping off five deliveries into his seventh over with figures of 0-16.
