Former Queensland fast bowler Steve Magoffin says if the phone rings he’ll be available to play for Australia in the upcoming Ashes series.
The 33-year-old took remarkable figures of 12-31 playing for Sussex against Somerset this week.
“I am quite shocked to be honest but all the guys played well and it was pretty much the perfect performance,” Magoffin told Britain’s Daily Telegraph.
“I don’t even play Shield cricket in Australia any more so I’m not sure if I would qualify for Australia but, if the phone rings, I will answer it and I will probably be available.
“If it was to happen it would be amazing.”
Magoffin left Queensland in mid-2012 and announced he would finish his career in England.
He debuted for Western Australia in 2004-05 and, overall, took 190 first-class wickets for the Warriors.
That haul included 38 early in the 2008-09 season that ensured he was flown to South Africa as a standby Test bowler.
