Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf has been withdrawn from the Champions Trophy next month by the ICC because Indian police are conducting an investigation into his performances during the ongoing IPL.
The International Cricket Council said ON Thursday in a statement that “in the wake of reports …. we feel that is in Asad’s best interests, as well as those of the sport and the event itself, that he is withdrawn from participating in the ICC Champions Trophy.”
Three players from Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League were suspended last week after allegations of spot-fixing.
The Champions Trophy limited overs tournament will be held in England from June 6-23.
