Victoria posted their highest one-day cricket score against Tasmania on Sunday, amassing 6-348 from 50 overs at the MCG.
David Hussey starred with a faultless 100 from 78 balls after the Bushrangers won the toss.
He belted seven fours and four sixes before holing out to Aiden Blizzard at the long-on boundary off Ben Laughlin at the end of the 49th over.
Victoria’s previous record against the Tigers was 7-326 during the 2009-10 season in Hobart.
One of the highlights of Hussey’s innings was smashing 22 off James Faulkner in the 39th over – four fours and a six – to pass 50.
After scoring a rare double bonus point earlier this month against Queensland, the Bushrangers top order again showed strong form.
Openers Rob Quiney and Aaron Finch had their second-straight 100 partnership, before Faulkner had Quiney caught behind for 53.
Finch was also caught behind off Laughlin for 63 and Glenn Maxwell made 42 before Blizzard took a great catch in the deep to give Laughlin his second wicket.
Hussey and captain Cameron White ensured Victoria would score well over 300 when they amassed 115 from 92 balls for the fourth wicket.
White tried to bash a delivery from Jackson Bird and skied a catch to wicketkeeper Tim Paine after belting 45 from 40 balls.
Andrew McDonald hit a quickfire 33, while Peter Handscomb (1) and John Hastings (four) were the not-out batsmen.
While Victoria are in a great position, Tasmania also boast a very strong batting lineup.
“The start with the new ball is going to be the key,” said Victorian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade, who sat out the match.
“The boys were saying it’s a little bit two-paced and there’s enough seam around at times.”
Wade pulled out after hurting his thumb in last week’s Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania.
